Prabhas’ Kalki 2898 AD: Nag Ashwin reveals movie plot
In the first episode of The Prelude of Kalki 2898 AD, director Nag Ashwin opened up about the movie’s plot. He talked about how his inspiration for making the movie came from the epics Ramayana and Mahabharata. The director talked about growing up listening to these epics. He highlighted that many superhero movies have been made in Hollywood, but Indian superheroes have not received much recognition in the cinema.
The director called Kalki 2898 AD’s plot a sequel to Mahabharata. He said, “The world of Kalki is something that we are saying is almost like a sequel to the last epic that we have of these characters of the previous Yugas.”
Nag Ashwin further emphasized the four Yugas and how every Yuga had a great battle. Moreover, in each Yuga, “an Avatar comes to restore the balance.” “The last great epic that we have is the Mahabharata.”
Nag Ashwin confirmed that Kalki 2898 AD is the climax of all the battles that have happened since the creation of the world. He also described how Kaliyuga is the last stage, and the mythology will end with it. He added, “We don’t really have the story of this Yuga. I just thought it was a very interesting idea if we start writing a sequel to the Mahabharata, what would happen.”
Kalki 2898 AD is set to be released on June 27, 2024.
