Vijay Antony’s latest romantic comedy-drama, Romeo, premiered in theaters on April 11, 2024. Marketed as Love Guru in the Telugu belt, the film will now make its digital debut. Two OTT giants recently confirmed that Romeo will premiere on the platform soon.
Upon its theatrical release, Romeo received mixed reviews from critics and audiences. The Times of India reviewed the film, stating, “Romeo falters at being a romantic film with a lead pair to root for. It tries to be both Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi and Kaavalan but imbibes the illogicality of those films rather than its conviction.”
Helmed by Vinayak Vaithianathan, the film stars Mirnalini Ravi as the female lead. Also, Yogi Babu, VTV Ganesh, Ilavarasu, Thalaivasal Vijay, and Sudha were seen in supporting roles. This film marks the director’s directional debut under the Vijay Antony Film Corporation banner.
Romeo revolves around the protagonist, Aravind, who is settled in Malaysia. Upon his return home, he meets Leela at a funeral and immediately falls in love with her. Leela dreams of becoming an actress, and Aravind convinces Leela and her parents to marry him. After marriage, Aravind goes to great lengths to make his wife happy. He even started producing a film to fulfill her dream of becoming an actress.
When is Antony’s Romeo available for digital streaming?
The OTT platform Aha Tamil recently announced the digital streaming of Romeo on X (formerly Twitter). Their tweet in Tamil stated, “Inum 5days-la Indha #Romeo avar juliet-oda seraa ena la panaru-nu papinga.. #ROMEO Premieres May 10th on @ahatamil,” This translates to, “Just 5 days left! Find out what Romeo will do to win Juliet’s heart. #ROMEO Premieres May 10th on @ahatamil.”
Additionally, it will also be available for streaming on Amazon Prime Video from the same date. However, this announcement has generated excitement among those who missed its theatrical run, as they can now watch it from their home comfort.
