Tamil movies have been facing fairly lower box office collections since the beginning of the year. With the upcoming star-studded movies, the dry spell of the cinema is expected to end. In June, two major movies, Dhanush’s Raayan and Vikarm’s Thangalaan, are expected to be released. However, the latest report says that the two movies will clash around the same time.
When will Raayan and Thangalaan release?
According to Pinkvilla, the makers of Raayan are eyeing June 13, 2024, to release the movie. A report from the same portal has claimed that Thangalaan is also set to release on the same date. If the report is to be believed, the two movies will have a massive clash at the box office. An official announcement about the release dates of the two movies is still awaited.
Moreover, this is not the first time that the two Tamil stars might have a clash in the theaters. In 2016, Dhanush’s Thodari and Vikram’s Iru Magan were released on the same day, September 2. However, seeing the current situation of Tamil cinema, the alleged clash might not turn out to be helpful.
Dhanush’s previous movie, Captain Miller, also faced competition from Sivakarthikeyan’s Ayalaan. The two movies were released ahead of Pongal 2024 and received average reviews.
Reports about Dhanush’s new directorial venture Raayan’s release date have been making rounds for a while. As per the action thriller’s poster, the Tamil star might take up the role of a butcher. However, no official announcement regarding this has been made yet. The movie’s first single will be out on May 9, 2024.
On the other hand, Thangalaan has faced several delays ever since its production began in 2022. The movie is allegedly based on a true story. While the movie’s last release date was announced in April, it has again been postponed. More updates on the Vikram starrer are awaited.
