Ajay Devgn’s Shaitaan OTT Release Date Revealed

After captivating audiences in theatres, Ajay Devgn’s thriller Shaitaan is set to make its digital debut. The film, praised by the audience and critics for its gripping storyline and supernatural theme, will arrive shortly on the streaming giant Netflix. The announcement has set the ball rolling for viewers who can now experience the film from the comfort of their homes.

Directed by Vikas Bahl, Shaitaan was released on March 8, 2024, coinciding with the festival of Maha Shivratri. Notably, it is a remake of the Gujarati film Vash, released in 2023. However, the makers re-wrote the climax portion for the Hindi version. Alongside Ajay Devgn, the film features R. Madhavan, Jyothika, Janki Bodiwala, and Anngad Raaj in key roles. The banners of Devgn Films, Jio Studios, and Panorama Studios have jointly produced the film.

Shaitaan revolves around a family whose lives take a turn when a stranger with powers of black magic enters their home. It delves into the motives behind the individual’s actions and the family’s efforts to overcome the dark magic. With a budget of around $10 million, Shaitaan earned the title of the second-highest-grossing Hindi film of 2024. It earned around $11.9 million within 11 days of its release.

Shaitaan to arrive soon on Netflix

After nearly two months since its theatrical run, Shaitaan will make its OTT debut on Netflix on May 4. While Netflix has yet to officially announce on social media, several reports claim that the movie will premiere tonight. CinemaRare on X (formally Twitter) even shared a screenshot of the Netflix app interface, confirming the premiere date.

Before its theatrical release, the Central Board of Film Certification awarded Shaitaan a U/A certificate with a few modifications. Speaking about its sequel, producer Kumar Mangat revealed, “40 din mein shoot hui hai. Part 2 bhi hamaare dimaag mein taiyaar hai. (We shot the first part in 40 days. The sequel is ready in our minds.)”

According to the Hindustan Times, “The story for the sequel will be set in Kokam, Maharashtra. It is popularly known as the black magic center of the state. The narrative will develop around more complexities and energies of black magic.”

As the digital release approaches, anticipation is high among audiences to see how Shaitaan fares upon its digital release.
