Thalapathy 69 Update: Director Nelson Not on Board for Vijay’s Next

Actor Vijay is gearing up for the release of his upcoming film, The Greatest of All Time. Ahead of its theatrical release, fans are anticipating the next release, Thalapathy 69. However, recently acclaimed director Nelson confirmed that he will not be involved with the project.

Moreover, Vijay confirmed that Thalapathy 69 will be his final film before he fully transitions into politics. He recently entered the field with his newly formed party, Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam. Speaking about his entry into politics and his last film, he stated, “So politics is not a hobby for me; That is my deepest desire. I want to involve myself in it fully. On my behalf, I will complete another film-related commitment that I have already agreed to, without interfering with party work, and fully engage in politics for the service of the people. I consider that my debt of gratitude to the people of Tamil Nadu.”

Nelson Gives Update on Thalapathy 69

When talking about Thalapathy 69, Director Nelson clarified that he was not directing the movie. He said, “My big congratulations to whoever is directing that film. It’s a significant opportunity to work with Vijay sir, and it would be great if it happened to me again. But I am not doing Thalapathy 69.”

Further sharing his desire for the cast, Nelson revealed, “If I were the director of Thalapathy 69, I would cast Mahesh Babu, Shah Rukh Khan, and Mammootty alongside Vijay.” However, Times of India confirmed that director Karthik Subbaraj has taken charge of directing Thalapathy 69 under the banner of Sun Pictures.

Meanwhile, Vijay’s upcoming movie Thalapathy 68, also known as The Greatest of All Time, is set to release on September 5, 2024. The film’s posters reveal Vijay in a dual role, showcasing an older and younger version of himself. Alongside Vijay, the cast includes Prashanth, Prabhu Deva, Sneha, Laila, Meenakshi Chaudhary, Mohan, Jayaram, Ajmal Ameer, and Yogi Babu in pivotal roles.
