Sanam Teri Kasam was released on February 05, 2016. The romantic drama was widely loved by the audiences. The movie commences with a scene where the media hails lawyer Inder Lal Parihaar for winning a case. However, despite the outward success, he returns home, grabs a bottle of wine, and heads toward a tree planted in his yard. The story then transitions to a series of flashbacks.
Saraswati Parthasarathy, also known as Saru, comes from a Telugu Orthodox family. She faces rejection from several guys due to her old-fashioned appearance. Her younger sister Kaveri’s impending marriage pressures Saru to find a partner of hers. However, their father’s strict decree forbids Kaveri’s marriage until Saru is wed. Despite lots of efforts, Saru was unable to find a partner.
Amidst this backdrop, Inder, who resides in the same building, inadvertently crosses paths with Saru’s father while engaging in a romantic fling with his girlfriend. The story takes a turn when Saru unexpectedly meets Inder in his room to seek an appointment with a makeup artist (Inder’s girlfriend, Ruby) to enhance her appearance. Soon, Ruby enters the room and misinterprets the situation, leading to a confrontation between them. While protecting Saru in chaos, Inder sustains an injury.
The situation escalates further when Saru’s father returns home and discovers Saru and Inder on the same bed. This leads to Jayram abandoning his daughter Saru, forcing her to leave the house. Saru tells her mother, Arundhati, what happened that night but asks her not to tell Jayram because he finally agreed to Kaveri’s wedding after all this.

Soon, Inder finds an apartment for Saru and gets her makeover from a local hairdresser. With her new look, Inder deeply falls in love with Saru. However, he keeps his feelings hidden when Saru’s colleague, Abhimanyu, proposes to her. The situation is heartbreaking when Abhimanyu rejects Saru on their wedding day due to his father’s objections. Following this, Saru spends a night with Inder before abruptly cutting off all contact with him.
Soon, Inder finds that Saru has rejected Abhimanyu’s request for a second chance. He tracks her down and finds her in a Buddhist monastery, where he professes his love. Unfortunately, Saru collapses, and Inder rushes her to the hospital, where he learns she only has a few days left to live.
He forcibly enters Saru’s parents’ house and demands they stop pretending their daughter is dead, leading to his arrest. Once Saru gets discharged, she goes to the library and discovers the secret messages Inder left for her on check-out slips, realizing he loved her from the beginning. The two unite, and Saru asks Inder to marry her.
That night, Saru tells him that after her death, she desires to be buried under a beautiful flowering tree. Inder meets Jayram and tells him he is marrying Saru and can even die for her. On their wedding day, Saru’s parents arrive and accept their wedding. Saru faints after the wedding and gets hospitalized. Her parents learn about her disease, and Jayram feels heartbroken and guilty. Saru dies in Inder’s arms, and Inder is left heartbroken. Now, in the present time, a successful lawyer, Inder, stands in front of a tree and says that he misses her.
