According to a trade source, YRF is taking a strategic approach to developing the Spy Universe. The decision to omit Salman Khan’s cameo in Pathaan 2 is part of a larger plan to maintain the integrity and impact of each character within the universe.
“The team at YRF feels that there is enough of Tiger and he should mark a return to the universe at the most crucial juncture now. Having random cameos in feature films will dilute the power of Tiger as a standalone character,” a source revealed.
This decision reflects a shift in focus towards building substantial roles for characters within the universe. Also, the makers do not want to rely on fleeting cameos for star power. Salman Khan himself is reportedly in agreement with this approach. He expressed a desire to pursue more substantial roles within the franchise.
“Salman is also tired of doing cameos and is now wanting to do something substantial. Adi doesn’t want the cameos within the universe to be gimmicks and hence he will be carefully plotting the criss-crossing of all key characters in the timeline ahead,” the source added.
Pathaan 2 is set to feature Shah Rukh Khan reprising his role as the stylish spy. It is currently in the early stages of production. The movie is expected to roll out later this year. It will follow the release of War 2, which stars Hrithik Roshan and Jr. NTR.
