Netflix Docu-Series The Indrani Mukerjea Story: Buried Truth Release Date Delayed?

Indrani Mukerjea, a former media executive, gained infamy when she was arrested in 2015 for the alleged murder of her daughter, Sheena Bora. The case took a dramatic turn when it was revealed that Sheena was, in fact, Indrani’s daughter from a previous marriage. Initially, Sheena was portrayed as her sister.

The Indrani Mukerjea Story: Buried Truth promises an in-depth exploration of the case. It will feature interviews with key individuals, including Indrani herself and her daughter Vidhie. Additionally, the Netflix series showcases never-before-seen family photographs and unsettling phone call recordings. All would involve Indrani, her husband Peter Mukerjea, and Rahul Mukerjea.

The docu-series will be filled with interviews with Mukerjea family members, legal experts, and journalists who covered the case. The Netflix docu-series aims to shed light on the complex narrative surrounding the Sheena Bora Murder Case.

Netflix’s The Indrani Mukerjea Story: Buried Truth release date postponed

The release of Netflix’s docuseries The Indrani Mukerjea Story: Buried Truth has hit a snag. The streaming giant announced a delay until February 29. This decision came after the Bombay High Court intervened. The Bombay High Court directed Netflix to withhold the series until the end of the month.

The court also mandated a special screening of the documentary for Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) officers. The next hearing is set for February 29. This development follows the CBI’s appeal to halt the release, which was initially declined by a special court.

Concerns raised by the CBI revolve around potential interference with ongoing investigations related to the Sheena Bora Murder Case, in which Indrani Mukerjea is a key figure. Notably, the CBI expressed worries about the impact the series could have on the case.

Indrani Mukerjea faces a slew of charges, including murder, criminal conspiracy, and forgery, as per the Indian Penal Code. Despite being out on bail since May 2022 after spending seven years in Byculla Jail, her legal battles continue.

As the legal proceedings unfold, the fate of The Indrani Mukerjea Story: Buried Truth remains uncertain, pending further deliberation by the Bombay High Court.
