Fighter Ending: Does Patty kill Azhar Akhtar?

During Fighter, the Garud forces entered the hostage site, which surprised Azhar Akhtar as he wasn’t expecting them to arrive before night. On the other hand, RAW spy Yafid Salim made Azhar Akhtar believe that he was on his side but was loyal to his nation. Azhar Akhtar engaged in a battle with the Garud soldiers, and soon, they were outnumbered by the Pakistani forces and members of the terrorist group.

Mini was sent with Sukhi to bring back the soldiers, but Azhar blew up Sukhi’s helicopter, killing a chunk of soldiers. Mini then rescued Taj but decided not to return to India as she wanted to help the soldiers on the ground. Patty finally decided to take charge and told his seniors that even a court martial wouldn’t stop him from taking action to save his colleagues. Although Rakesh had always been against Patty, this time, he gave in.

During the end of Fighter, Patty and Rakesh wreaked havoc on the enemy forces together. Patty and Azhar Akhtar finally came face-to-face, which resulted in Azhar’s death. In the end, Patty finally decided to let go of the past and confessed his feelings to Mini. He also reconciled with Rakesh. Taj was rescued, and together with Patty, Mini, and Rakesh, the Indian Air Force soldiers returned.

Will there be a Fighter 2?

With the ongoing success of Fighter, director Siddharth Anand talked about a potential sequel in a recent interview. He said, “Yeah, that audience will decide. Abhi dekhte hain abhi 3 hi din hue hain (We’ll see. It’s been just three days since the film release). I think audience ka pyaar will decide what we will do, and we would love to make Fighter 2 a larger story. We have some great ideas that we want to put it down to.”

He then added, “I never get excited to make part 2s. I’m probably one of the few directors who’s not made a sequel yet. Every director in this country or rather one of the top directors of the country have all made sequels. There is no director who has not made a sequel. So, I am probably the one who has not made a sequel, and I am refraining from that. I don’t want to make sequels yet.”

Siddharth further expressed, “As of now, I am not excited to make sequels. I want to keep creating new characters and new stories. Otherwise, kya hota hai na (what happens is) there is a certain comfort zone in the sequels. You start relying on the nostalgia and try to match that vo mujhe maza nahin …(that I don’t enjoy) that’s where my stagnation will happen. That’s where I will stagnate. I feel that I may be wrong, but I want to just keep challenging myself. Sequel I feel is a very comfort space or mujhe comfortable nahin hona abhi (and I don’t want to get comfortable yet).”

Watch Fighter in theatres now.
