Is Salaar’s Khansaar a Real Place?

Prashanth Neel, who is gearing up for his upcoming film Salaar, is known for creating violent worlds in his movies. The director earlier created a story around the Kolar Gold Fields of Karnataka in the Yash-starrer KGF film series. And now, he has introduced a new place, named Khansaar, in the upcoming Prabhas starrer. The one question that is making rounds regarding this movie is – Is Khansaar a real place? The answer is no.

Khansaar is certainly not a real place. It is a fictional city that Prashanth Neel created while writing Salaar. The director has often clarified how he created a fictional place that is violent and emotional at the same time.

Salaar’s Khansaar is the most violent place on earth?

Ahead of Salaar’s release, Prashanth Neel has been dropping hints about the movie’s unique plot. He revealed that the film is about two friends who turn enemies with time. In a statement, he also mentioned details about Khansaar. He said, “We wanted to create Khansaar of Salaar as one of the most violent worlds known to humans, but something that is strongly driven by emotions. I firmly believe that motives are very important in the development of characters in a film like Salaar to make them connect with the audience.”

Prabhas, Prithviraj Sukumaran, and Shruti Haasan play key roles in Salaar. The film also has a massive supporting cast, critical for shaping the story of the movie. Talking about the film’s plot, the director said, “Salaar: Part 1 is a completely different world; the action in the film is massive and there are strong characters. But above all, it has an emotional story—the story of two friends and their journey into the world of the Khansaar. I wanted to make an action-packed drama film with a story driven by emotions and friendship, and Salaar has given me that opportunity.”

Watch Salaar: Part 1 – Ceasefire in theaters from December 22, 2023.
