American Horror Story: Roanoke Premiere Among Most-Watched in FX History

FX Networks has announced that the premiere episode of the sixth and newest installment American Horror Story: Roanoke ranks among the top telecasts of the franchise in all key demos, a remarkable achievement for a show in its sixth year. To date, the combined linear and non-linear audience for the debut episode stands at 10.9 million Total Viewers.

On a Live+3 basis, the premiere telecast (Wednesday, September 14, 10-11 PM) received 8.3 million Total Viewers and 5.6 million Adults 18-49, making it the third most-watched telecast in franchise history in Total Viewers, Adults 18-49 and Adults 18-34. The premiere telecast also ranks among the most-watched telecasts in FX Networks history (#3 in Adults 18-34, #5 in Adults 18-49, and #7 in Total Viewers out of over 163,000+ telecasts).

In addition, the premiere of AHS: Roanoke was the most-watched primetime telecast of the night in all of television among Adults 18-49 and Adults 18-34.

The premiere telecast was up +52% in Adults 18-49 and +50% in Total Viewers over the season average ratings of last year’s American Horror Story: Hotel on a Live+3 basis. As compared to the premiere telecast of AHS: Hotel, the premiere telecast of AHS: Roanoke was down -8% among Adults 18-49 (5.6 million vs. 6.1 million) and -9% among Total Viewers (8.3 million vs. 9.1 million).

The fifth installment, AHS: Hotel, won two Emmy Awards in 2016: Outstanding Makeup For A Limited Series or Movie (Non-Prosthetic) and Outstanding Costumes For A Contemporary Series, Limited Series or Movie.
