Elmore Leonard’s Granddaughter Gets Gory with THE ICE CREAM TRUCK

Writer/Director Megan Freels Johnston preps new horror film THE ICE CREAM TRUCK.

Writer/director Megan Freels Johnston, the brain behind the well-regarded indie thriller REBOUND, is preparing to roll out her next picture, a deranged, bloody and surreal psychodrama called THE ICE CREAM TRUCK.

Johnston is the granddaughter of iconic American novelist Elmore Leonard (RUM PUNCH, GET SHORTY) and the word-wrangling apple doesn’t fall far; REBOUND was praised of its script and the rhythm of its dialogue. That craft continues in THE ICE CREAM TRUCK, a David Lynch and Roman Polanski (with a dash of John Waters) inspired horror film that is set to go to camera this spring.

Here’s the official synopsis:

Mary’s husband gets relocated for work which allows her to move back to her suburban hometown. As her family ties up loose ends back home, Mary (Deanna Russo, BEING HUMAN, KNIGHT RIDER) moves into their new house all alone and ….waits. Although her familiar suburb is a constant reminder of her youth, something seems strange. A local Ice Cream Man with a love of nostalgia starts to kill some of her neighbors. Mary is torn between her mature instincts that something is wrong and the distracting memories of her younger days.
