Los Angeles Film Critics Vote George Miller as Best Director for MAD MAX: FURY ROAD

Visionary future-shock thriller MAD MAX: FURY ROAD gets nods from the Los Angeles Film Critics Association.

The Los Angeles Film Critics Association (LAFCA) has just revealed the winners of the 2015 LAFCA Awards and the brilliant sequel/re-boot apocalypse freak-out MAD MAX: FURY ROAD got a few choice nods…

Director George Miller, the force behind all four MAD MAX films, got the richly deserved award for Best Director, while MAD MAX: FURY ROAD itself was the runner up for Best Picture.

DP John Seale also won Best Cinematography for his work on the film, as did Colin Gibson for Best Production Design.

Other genre-related nods went to Alicia Vikander for her turn in Alex Garland’s sci-fi shocker EX MACHINA and Maestro Ennio Morricone was runner up for Best Score for Tarantino’s upcoming splatter Western THE HATEFUL EIGHT.

Founded in 1975, The Los Angeles Film Critics Association (LAFCA) is comprised of Los Angeles-based, professional film critics working in the Los Angeles print and electronic media.  Each December, LAFCA members vote on the year’s Achievement Awards, honoring screen excellence on both sides of the camera. Plaques of recognition are then presented to winners during LAFCA’s annual awards ceremony, held Saturday, January 9th at the InterContinental Los Angeles.
