Trailer: Prepare Yourself for Goodnight Mommy

Goodnight Mommy is horrifying. One of the best movies of the year, this artfully constructed Austrian nightmare from directors Severin Fiala and Veronika Franz is a disquieting, unreal upsetting piece of work. It fucking rules and is coming for you this September from Radius-TWC.

Opening theatrically on September 11, 2015, Goodnight Mommy lives in the heat of the summer, “in a lonesome house in the countryside where nine year old twin brothers await their mother’s return. When she comes home, bandaged after cosmetic surgery, nothing is like before and the children start to doubt whether this woman is actually who she says she is.”

From the immediately unsettling bandages, to one of the most primal screams I’ve ever heard on film, Goodnight Mommy eats at the surreal terror of mistrusting your own parent in childhood. This movie hurts, and I can’t wait for Shock readers to see it.
