Z for Zachariah Release Pushed One Week

From Craig Zobel, director of 2012’s most uncomfortable movie, Compliance, comes post-apocalyptic thriller Z for Zachariah. The Sundance premiere was originally slated for an August 21st release from Roadside Attractions. This has since been switched to August 28th.

Based on a novel by Robert C. O’Brien, Z For Zachariah is set in a post-apocalyptic landscape, but is seemingly more in the tradition of films like Knife in the Waterand Dead Calm. “In the wake of a nuclear war, where a young woman survives on her own, fearing she may actually be the proverbial last woman on earth, until she discovers the most astonishing sight of her life: another human being. A distraught scientist, he’s nearly been driven mad by radiation exposure and his desperate search for others. A fragile, imperative strand of trust connects them. But when a stranger enters the valley, their precarious bond begins to unravel.”
