Lights Out: James Wan Producing Feature of Eerie Short

Lights Out is an online favorite, an eerie three minutes crafted by David F. Sandberg for the Who’s There Film Challenge. It’s been plenty shared and reached Vimeo Staff Pick thanks to a simple nailing of old school afraid of the dark horror. Now, The Conjuring’s James Wan is producing a feature adaptation of the film, written by Eric A. Heisserer, with Sandberg directing and young Gabriel Bateman set to star.

Batemen currently appears on TV’s Stalker and had a role in last fall’s Wan-produced Annabelle. Variety reports the feature will concern “a supernatural entity attacking a family, with one of the members required to step up to protect them from a threat that can be seen only when the lights go out.”

Wan produces alongside Sandberg, Lawrence Grey and Heisserer (2011’s The Thing, Final Destination 5). Hopefully Lights Out’s spooky simplicity will translate to feature length.
