The Lazarus Effect: Exclusive Deleted Scene

Out today on Blu-ray and DVD is The Lazarus Effect, last winter’s Blumhoust-produced horror film about toying with resurrection in a medical facility, and all that (expectedly goes wrong in the process). Shock Till You Drop presents an exclusive look at a deleted scene from the film, detailing just what’s going on in the newly reanimated brain of Olivia Wilde’s researcher, Zoe.

Wilde gives a compelling, pulpy performance as the distraught Zoe-turned-supernatural villain, so it’s perhaps understandable a scene without her might be excised. But the film, directed by Jiro Dreams of Sushi has a cast with camaraderie, including Mark Duplass, Donald Glover, Evan Peters and your future favorite evil babysitter, Sarah Bolger. Here the four bounce off of each other understanding what they’ve wrought.

In The Lazarus Effect, A group of researchers led by Frank (Mark Duplass) and his fiancée Zoe (Olivia Wilde) have achieved the unimaginable: bringing the dead back to life. When Zoe is accidentally electrocuted in a horrific accident, Frank and his team use their experimental serum to resurrect her. But their attempt goes horribly wrong—unleashing terrifying powers within Zoe that put all of their lives in grave danger.

Special Features on the newly released DVD & Blu include “Creating Fear: The Making of The Lazarus Effect”; “Playing God: The Moral Dilemma” (Blu-ray only); and Deleted/Extended Scenes (Blu-ray only). For more on The Lazarus Effect, see our Q&A with star Duplass here
