The Gallows: Watch the Opening Scene from High School Horror

An onstage tragedy becomes all too real in the opening scene for this summer’s high school horror The Gallows

Travis Cluff & Chris Lofing’s The Gallows is set “twenty years after an accident caused the death of the lead actor during a high school play.” Unsurprisingly, the film opens with the sad event, caught from the audience-bound camcorder of his whispering parents. It’s a point blank piece that would possibly be more effective if it weren’t for the faux analog static endemic to found footage films.

In the film, “students at the same small town school resurrect the failed stage production in a misguided attempt to honor the anniversary of the tragedy—but ultimately find out that some things are better left alone.”
