Tales of Halloween, Karen Gillan Join Etheria Film Night

This June’s Etheria Film Night, a showcase and celebration of women in genre filmmaking, has added two special guests to its already stacked feature and shorts lineup. Director Axelle Carolyn (Soulmate) will present “Grim Grinning Ghost,” her segment for the upcoming highly anticipated Tales of Halloween anthology, while Oculus and Doctor Who star Karen Gillan will premiere her directorial debut, Coward.

Both films will screen Saturday, June 13th at 4:00 p.m. before Etheria’s feature selection, the Australian horror film Inner Demon. Later that evening, the shorts lineup gets underway with the likes of El Gigante from director Gigi Saul Guerrero and Amber Benson’s Shevenge.

Carolyn’s “Grim Grinning Ghost” stars Barbara Crampton, Alex Essoe (Starry Eyes) and Insidious’ Lin Shaye and “tells the story of a woman who hears mysterious footsteps on her way home from a Halloween party.” Carolyn also serves as producer on the short and Tales of Halloween anthology, which will feature segments from directors Darren Lynn Bousman, Adam Gierasch, Andrew Kasch & John Skipp, Lucky McKee, Mike Mendez, Neil Marshall, Dave Parker, Ryan Schifrin and Paul Solet.

Gillan’s film, Coward is “about two people who bond over the mutual experience of murder,” and stars iZombie’s Rose McIver. Coward is produced by Fun Size Horror’s Mali Elfman and Mikey May.

Etheria Film Night gets underway Saturday, June 13th at the Egyptian Theatre in Hollywood. Below, find a gallery with the full lineup. Dread Central premiered the photos from “Grim Grinning Ghost” and Coward.
