Shock Video: Gil Kenan, Sam Rockwell and Rosemarie DeWitt Talk Poltergeist

Hitting theaters today is 20th Century Fox and MGM’s big screen remake of Tobe Hooper’s 1982 Poltergeist. But is it a remake after all? That’s one of the questions we’re asking director Gil Kenan and stars Sam Rockwell (The Way, Way Back, Iron Man 2) and Rosemarie DeWitt (The Odd Life of Timothy Green, Kill the Messenger) in a new video interview Shock conducted at the film’s press junket earlier this week. Check it out in the player below!

From producer Sam Raimi and director Gil Kenan (Monster House, City of Ember), the new film modernizes the classic tale about a family whose suburban home is haunted by evil forces. When the terrifying apparitions escalate their attacks and hold the youngest daughter captive, the family must come together to rescue her before she disappears forever.

Written by David Lindsay-Abaire, the Pulitzer Prize winning playwright of “Rabbit Hole,” Poltergeist boasts a cast that also includes Jared Harris (Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows, “Mad Men”), Saxon Sharbino (Trust Me, “Touch”), and Jane Adams (“Hung,” Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind), along with 8-year-old Kennedi Clements as Madison, a new version of the famous Carol Anne (Heather O’Rourke) from the original.

Poltergeist is now in theaters.
