In 1982, Glenn Danzig Reviewed The Road Warrior

The official Facebook Page for Destroy All Movies: The Complete Guide to Punks on Film (an essential film book one should own) has shared a true gem: Glenn Danzig’s 1982 fanzine reviews of The Road Warrior, Basket Case, Creepshow and Halloween III: Season of the Witch. As Mad Max: Fury Road anticipation reaches fever pitch, let’s look at the Misfits, Samhain and Danzig founder’s thoughts on its most iconic predecessor, as well as his unfortunate summation of Tommy Lee Wallace’s Halloween treasure.

“Mad Max was boring but ROAD WARRIOR is the ultimate statement on survival in the not-too-distant future,” Danzig declares. The dude is hardcore; a tough talking, Satan celebrating singer, and appropriately, he celebrates Road Warriror’s harsher qualities. “Plenty of harsh brutality, violence, rape, murder, and death. All the things that await you in post-war life.”

Unfortunately, it seems he couldn’t get on board with Creepshow’s horror comics aesthetic, or into Season of the Witch’s own weird, occult vibes. Basket Case “IS A MUST!!”, however.
