Dane DeHaan to Star in A Cure for Wellness, Gore Verbinski’s Return to Horror

Though Gore Verbinski has become known for utterly gargantuan blockbusters in the forms of the Pirates of the Caribbean series and The Lone RangerThe Ring remains his most gripping work. With a grasp on both stellar visual style and existential dread, Verbinski brought real fright to the 2002 film. So it’s cause for excitement he’ll return to horror with the newly announced A Cure for Wellness, a spa-set thriller starring Dane DeHaan.

THR reports DeHaan will star in  A Cure for Wellness as “an employee who is sent to rescue his boss from a European ‘wellness spa’ but soon realizes he’s trapped, and discovers that the facility has a more sinister purpose than just serving the health needs of its patients.: Mia Goth (Nymphomaniac, Vol. II) is in negotiations to play “a longtime patient who is oblivious to the spa director’s dark designs for her.”

A Cure for Wellness joins Bobby Miller’s Master Cleanse and Stanley Film Festival premiere Sun Choke (starring Barbara Crampton) as upcoming horror films based in wellness/holistic practices. Justin Haythe (Revolutionary Road) scripted A Cure for Wellness, which shoots this June.
