First Photos, Details: Summer Sequel, Sinister 2

If you’ll recall, Sinister, the Scott Derrickson-helmed horror story of a family massacring, child-possessing demon wrapped up in fairly grim manner. It’s not as if it’s mythology, or Buhguul’s history, restricted this story to just one movie however. There’s always more families. Get a look at said family, and the demon itself in the first stills from this summer’s Ciaran Foy-directed Sinister 2.

Written by Sinister creators Derrickson and C. Robert Cargill, and directed by Citadel‘s Ciaran Foy, Sinister 2 sees “a protective mother (Shannyn Sossamon) and her 9-year-old twin sons (real-life twins Robert and Dartanian Sloan) find themselves in a rural house marked for death as the evil spirit of Buhguul continues to spread with frightening intensity.”

You can see the first glimpses of least one of the twins surrounded by Buhguul and his growing number of evil orphans, as well as the demon setting up a home movie, below. The Blumhouse-produced Sinister 2 is in theaters from Focus Features August 21.
