Genre legends Barbara Crampton (Re-Animator) and Larry Fessenden (Habit, The Last Winter) co-star in Ted Geoghegan’s feature debut, the chilly New England ghost story, We Are Still Here.
Produced by Dark Sky Films and Travis Stevens (Cheap Thrills, Starry Eyes), We Are Still Here concerns “Paul (Andrew Sensenig) and Anne (Barbara Crampton), who move to the quiet New England countryside to start over after their teenage son is killed in a car crash. But the grieving couple unknowingly become prey to a family of vengeful spirits that reside in their new home, and before long they discover that the seemingly peaceful town they’ve moved into is hiding a terrifyingly dark secret.”
We Are Still Here looks aggressive and atmospheric, rather than a mellow creeper. It’s got fiery ghosts and a fiery Fessenden, 70s decor and Crampton, who’s displayed serious taste in her contemporary genre resurgence. I’m very much looking forward to the film when it premieres as part of SXSW FIlm’s Midnighters this March. [Deadline]
