The Sundance Film Festival’s breakout horror film—and possible breakout film, period—felt like a culmination. The past five years or so have seen a resurgence in witch fiction and culture, from television to movies to comics to Bushwick. For fans and admirers of the archetype and subversion of it, it’s an exciting time. Having seen Robert Eggers’ The Witch twice now, I can tell you it’s only about to get better.
