Tye Sheridan to star in Black Death Director’s Detour

The director of the stunning Black Death returns to darker territories with Detour, now set to star celebrated young actor Tye Sheridan.

Christopher Smith, who debuted with eerie subway horror Creep and only improved through Severance and Triangle, most recently helmed the quite favorably received family holiday comedy Get Santa. He’ll be back to something in our wheelhouse with Detour however, which THR reports will have Mud‘s Sheridan (pictured above in Joe) in the lead as a young law student. “While grieving for his dying mother, Harper struggles to decide if he should kill his unfaithful stepfather.”

Julie Baines and Jason Newmark, producers on Smith’s CreepSeverance and Triangle, reteam with the director. Sheridan will be seen this month at Sundance in upcoming true-events thriller The Stanford Prison Experiment as well as next October’s Scouts vs. Zombies
