Artsploitation to Release Surreal Eurothriller, Horsehead

Artsploitation Films hit hard in 2012, building a label for strange, artful genre and releasing festival knockouts like Vanishing Waves, Toad Road, Animals and Combat Girls in the process. After seemingly taking 2014 off, or just recharging, the label announced a big return last November, teaming with Fango editor Chris Alexander on his upcoming Female Werewolf. And the news keeps coming. Artsploitation has now revealed its acquisition of surreal Eurothriller Horsehead

Directed by Romain Bassett, Horsehead is a dreamlike and dream-fueled horror story about a young woman afflicted with nightmares. Returning to her family’s home, one filled with secrets, she begins to experiment with lucid dreaming and takes an active role in her dreamscape. Horror fans should be delighted to know that veteran actress and Fulci favorite Catriona MacColl has a large role in the film, produced by Reel Suspects.

Reel Suspects head and Horsehead producer Matteo Lovadina says, “Horsehead is a very stylish, clever and powerful first-time feature, in the line of the giallo movies of Dario Argento and Lucio Fulci, but integrating imagery in a world which the director has made his own.”

Expect a limited theatrical run for Horsehead before Artsploitation brings it to DVD and VOD, reports Variety. Find the film’s trailer, below.
