Exclusive Video: Inside the Make-Up Room for Robert Englund’s Last Freddy Krueger Transformation

Spend some time with Robert Englund in the make-up chair in this exclusive video we received from August’s Flashback Weekend in Chicago, Illinois. This is a revealing look at the process Englund went through as he slipped into Freddy Krueger’s skin one last time, courtesy of FX artist Robert Kurtzman (supplier of this video).

Featured in the six minutes of footage: Some great footage inside the FX lab as the pieces are prepped (from molding to painting), anecdotes from Englund in the make-up chair, a special visit from Amanda Wyss, scenes from the convention floor and more!

“I love that Robert didn’t just copy, but put his own creativity into this make-up,” says Englund at one point. “One of the reasons I decided to go through this again is because it’s for a good cause. I love what they stand for – with the fans but with the Midway Drive-In and other projects. So that makes it easy.”

Flashback Weekend – which took place August 8th-10th – offered attendees the rare opportunity to get their photo taken with Englund in the makeup, but for a hefty price (nearly $400). But that didn’t stop fans from slapping down hard-earned cash to meet the actor and go face-to-face with a legendary horror icon. Proceeds went towards the “Midway Drive-In Digital Projector Fund.”

The last time Englund played Krueger was in Freddy vs. Jason 11 years ago. A big thanks to Kurtzman for providing us this treat for horror fans and A Nightmare on Elm Street aficionados!
