Producer Confirms Dracula Untold is Part of Universal Monsters Shared Universe Plan

When Alex Kurtzman and Chris Morgan revealed they were doing to flesh out a “shared universe” film series steeped in the world of Universal’s classic monsters, the question many of us had was: How will Dracula Untold fit into it all? And that was certainly a valid question since the movie was developed well before Kurztman, Morgan and Universal teamed up for their monsters initiative.

An answer hit via Badass Digest recently when colleague Devin Faraci learned that some reshoots on Dracula Untold took place so it can lay the groundwork for the shared universe. The upcoming The Mummy will be the official launch of the new films, however, what they’ve included in Dracula Untold is, as Devin says, is a “prologue.” Makes sense considering The Mummy is a modern-day tale.

Dracula Untold producer Alissa Phillips confirmed the aforementioned reporting stating:

I was really excited to be part of that. When we started out we weren’t [part of the series], but then we found out that they were going to do it.

Working with Alex Kurtzman and Chris Morgan who are very much a part of creating The Mummy and the other ones…it’s been fun to be a part of that.

Thanks to HeyUGuys for the quote which came out of the UK premiere for the film.
