Back in July, word broke that Paramount tapped F. Javier Gutierrez to direct The Ring 3D, the next chapter in the U.S. series. The last installment – The Ring Two – was released nearly 10 years ago.
Deadline reports today that Akiva Goldsman is circling the writing gig and may pen the sequel’s script.

David Loucka penned the first script for The Ring 3D. Goldsman would be coming to tackle another draft.
Goldman scripted Batman Forever, Batman & Robin, Lost in Space, I Am Legend and he recently scripted the supernatural thriller Stephanie for Blumhouse productions.
