Sinister Director’s Beware the Night Moves into 2014

Scott Derrickson SinisterWhen Scott Derrickson (Sinister) began work on Beware the Night this year, I thought it was awfully weird that it wasn't expected to hit theaters until 2015.  ShockTillYouDrop.com has been informed, however, that Sony's Screen Gems has shifted the release date to July 2, 2014 – placing the supernatural thriller right in the middle of the summer movie season.

This places the film up against the Melissa McCarthy-starring comedy Tammy and a week before Fast and Furious 7, directed by James Wan.  But, we're told the studio has confidence in Beware the Night and it looks like it's trying to capture some of that Conjuring-like box office magic.

Beware the Night is the story of a New York cop who meets a renegade priest when he is pulled into a case which the priest convinces him, against the officer’s religious beliefs, is demonic related. Together they work to solve the case and combat the paranormal forces working against them.

Taking on the cop role is Eric Bana (Hulk); Edgar Ramirez will play the priest.  Olivia Munn (The Newsroom) will also star.  Jerry Bruckheimer serves as a producer.
