There are some cool tie-ins to the original film for fans to look forward to upon checking out Curse of Chucky. According to those involved, there is more explanation of the Charles Lee Ray back-story in this film.
Writer-director Don Mancini has working been with the Childs Play franchise since the very beginning. Mancini wrote the original installment, which was directed by Tom Holland (Fright Night), and has written, directed, or written and directed every film in the franchise since. Mancini told us that he is taking the Childs Play franchise back to its dark roots with Curse of Chucky and moving away from the comedic tone the films began to take on in the more recent entries in the franchise.
After the homicidal good guy doll shows up at the wheelchair-bound Nica’s home, he quickly claims her mothers life. Long time soap opera actor A Martinez dons a cassock and also gets caught up in Chuckys web. Martinez plays Father Frank, the priest that is called in after the death of Nicas mother. Its safe to say Ian has seen better days. Hes been forced to seek employment at a coffee chain and his wife is having an affair. Danielle Bisutti plays Barb, Fionas sister. It quickly becomes apparent that she has more on her mind than the well being of her sister.
We also had time to check out a really gruesome scene being filmed. One of Chuckys unfortunate victims youll have to watch the film to find out who is involved in an automobile accident and must be cut out of the car to save his/her life. Unfortunately for the victim, the crash leaves the car in such ruin that it winds up decapitating the character. As soon as the head rolls, it is immediately followed by a steady stream of arterial spray. To create the effect, a cast of the characters head was created with painstaking detail. After the scene wrapped, we checked out the mold used in the decapitation scene and it looked and felt completely realistic.
