Wes Craven Addresses Scream 5, Future of the Series

Wes Craven was down in Austin, Texas for SXSW and our pals at Arrow in the Head caught up with the director who has been rather quiet since the release of Scream 4.  Following the debut of the sequel, there has been very little buzz about a Scream 5 but there were rumblings of an MTV series that have never really come to fruition since the rumors hit the web.

So, what’s the word on the street?  Does Craven have any updates?

The director told the site:

So far I have not heard anything about SCREAM 5 from Bob Weinstein. There is some talk about a television series, but I don’t think anything has moved forward on that yet. That’s what I’m hearing more than anything else from the guys at Dimension. It would be them picking up the phone and asking me if I wanted to play with them, so…

In the meantime, Craven is at work on Coming of Rage, a comic book collaboration with Steve Niles.  Announced a bit ago, the story is a road trip tale about a vampire, werewolf and zombie.
