In 2011, word trickled in that Flatliners was the next film to be remake. Laurence Mark was set to produce and Ben Ripley (Source Code) was going to be writing. The original, directed by Joel Schumacher, starred Kiefer Sutherland, Julia Roberts, Kevin Bacon, William Baldwin and Oliver Platt. Peter Filardi’s script concerned med students who dabbled in near-death experiments. Now, word is in as to who might direct the redo.
According to Bloody-Disgusting, Niels Arden Oplev is taking the helm.
He is best know for the original version of The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo. Recently, he directed the first episode of Under the Dome for CBS. No word yet as to when cameras will roll on Flatliners.
