Jason is the much beloved son of Pamela Sue Voorhees. Paramount put out three Friday the 13th movies before Jason evolved in to the character we have come to recognize him as.
Jason didn’t turn up until Friday the 13th Part 2 (other than a very brief appearance at the end of Friday the 13th) and doesn’t don his iconic hockey mask for the first time until Part 3. Jason has been portrayed by a number of different stuntmen and actors, but most famously in parts 7-10 by Kane Hodder.
Hodder immortalized the role of Jason and brought a depth to the character that audiences hadn’t previously seen. Hodder remains the largely undisputed fan favorite portrayal of the Jason character.
