Renny Harlin to Explore Mystery of Nine Dead Hikers

Renny Harlin (Deep Blue Sea, Cliffhanger) is heading back into the mountains for an untitled thriller that takes its cue from a real-life case.  The story is set against the backdrop of Russia’s Ural Mountains where nine hikers mysteriously died in 1959.

Harlin told Screen Daily:

“I was fascinated by this story, which remains one of the great unsolved mysteries of modern paranormal lore.  The facts, the script and the very dramatic setting convinced me that there is a thrilling movie there, just waiting to rivet audiences.”

Paranormal?  We like the sound of that.

Alexander Rodnyansky, Kia Jam, Harlin and Sergei Bespalov will produce.
