Magnolia Pictures announced it has acquired the film, along with those release plans, today. Emergo will roll out under its Magnet banner.
What is Emergo? you ask. It’s the latest film from Rodrigo Cortes, the director of Buried and the upcoming Red Lights. He penned the script for director Carles Torrens.

This past summer, the team behind Buried got together in a old, eerie house in Barcelona to shoot Emergo. Entirely in English, it is the descendant of The Blair Witch Project and Rec, but breaks away from tradition by revolutionizing filmmaking altogether. All types of cameras are used – video, HD, 8mm, 16mm, and 35mm – as we follow scientists’ footsteps through a haunted house, casting a frightening spell over the audience. Brace yourself for this terrifying experience!
