Deadline.com says a bidding war is underway for the script to Aftershock, which Roth penned with Guillermo Amoedo and director Nicolas Lopez.
The film is said to be set on an island where the residents of an insane asylum are set free in the wake of earthquake. Roth plays the leading man and co-stars with Selena Gomez.
Shooting began four weeks ago in Chile.
According to Deadline, a number of companies are circling the project, including The Weinstein Company and Relativity.
Aftershock marks Roth’s continued push for an acting career, something he is balancing with producing and writing these days. He is also shepherding the upcoming The Last Exorcism 2.
