Directed by American-Finnish female director, Tii Ricks, the film tells a story of a group of international friends who travel to the Finnish Arctic Circle to celebrate an originally pagan holiday, Midsummer’s Eve, during the summer solstice.
“I am a huge fan of the horror genre and my mother was born in Finland. I have never really understood the concept of going to a summer cottage for the summer holidays anywhere especially in Finland – because to me the Midnight Sun with the night mist over the night fields and the dead silence of the forest combined with isolated villages are not a nice and peaceful place to spend the holidays,” says Ricks. “On the contrary, they scare the heck out of me. To set a kind of traditional American horror film into this environment was a must for me.”
