Universal Takes Thirteen, American Horror Story’s Murphy Teams With Apollo 18 Scribe

Two bits of genre-related deals broke this weekend.

First, Universal has acquired Benjamin Magid’s spec script Thirteen.  The plot?  It’s all about possession and found footage.  Variety adds that it has a Flatliners flavor, but specific story details are not being revealed at this time.

After the jump, learn about the latest project from Ryan Murphy, the co-creator of American Horror Story.

According to Variety, Brian Miller is teaming up with Ryan Murphy to pen an untitled sci-fi/horror film.  Sadly, that’s all there is to report at this time, however, Sony is involved…so we know that much.  Miller previously penned the found footage flick Apollo 18.

Touching on Thirteen, briefly, expect to see a lot of deals breaking over the next month akin to The Devil Inside.  That’s just how this biz operates.  Project hits big for one weekend, production execs start clamoring for similar material.  It’s just the way it goes.
