Is Abraham Lincoln Vampire Hunter This Generation’s The Matrix? Mackie Thinks So

ON

Anthony Mackie has some high praise for Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter.  Then again, of course he does, he co-stars in the film alongside Benjamin Walker as Lincoln’s childhood pal.

Mackie says he has seen the film, by Wanted helmer Timur Bekmambetov, and in short, he says it’s going to blow your goddamn mind.

In an interview with Screen Rant, Mackie says the movie features action sequences that are “unlike anything you’ve ever seen before. He realized that this fabricated story is so far out there that he had to go all the way out to make it work. So, he just went as far as he could with the CGI and that trademark Timur cranking of shots and the storytelling.”

Then came the doozy of a quote: “Abraham Lincoln is like The Matrix of the next generation. It’s going to do to film what The Matrix did to film.”  Like I said, high praise.

A story about Abe Lincoln posing as a President by day and a vampire killer by night is going to revolutionize cinema.  We shall see.

The film is based on the novel by Seth Grahame-Smith and opens in theaters June 22 from 20th Century Fox.
