Here is the Monstrous Lizard from Spider-Man

If you’re an avid reader of Shock, you know I am a reader of comics and the glut of superhero flicks definitely has me excited.  This The Amazing Spider-Man business?  I can do without.  It’s far too soon for a reboot, I feel all of the actors look far too old to be playing the teenagers in high school they were hired to play and I think Sony should have just mustered up the courage to allow Sam Raimi to right some wrongs after Spider-Man 3 and push forward with a fourth film.

That said, I’ve been following the recent tidal wave of product and tie-in leaks connected to the reboot that are revealing a lot of images concerning the main villain…The Lizard. And today a piece of merchandise slipped that offers a real good look at the creature make-up.

This could be your first real good look at The Lizard, played by Rhys Ifans and it appears on a remote control of some sort that is being released.

Who is responsible for the creature make-up?  Legacy Effects, the company behind the stuff you’ve seen in Terminator: Salvation, Iron Man, The Avengers and Cowboys & Aliens.  They’re also at work on World War Z and The Hunger Games.  Also, I see creature concept artist Aaron Sims listed as being part of the design team, so The Lizard might be in good hands.

The Amazing Spider-Man is directed by Marc Webb and stars Andrew Garfield, Emma Stone, Ifans, Denis Leary, Campbell Scott, Irrfan Khan, Martin Sheen and Sally Field.  It opens July 3.
