Equipped with a “satisfying” ending
Brian Grazer is confident the long-mooted adaptation of Stephen King’s “The Dark Tower” is going to happen.
The producer told The Playlist: “We found a way to cut out $45 million out of the budget without changing the scope and actually giving it a good ending. In the $140 million draft, the ending wasn’t quite as satisfying. Now, we’ve got $45 million, $50 million out of the way and a really satisfying ending. It’s gonna get made.”
Well, that’s a win-win situation, I suppose. I’m prefer anything over a bloated budget and shitty ending, right?
Universal was initially going to release “The Dark Tower” endeavor, directed by Ron Howard, which was to spread across three films and a television series. The studio pulled out due to financial concerns, forcing Howard and Grazer to seek financing and distribution elsewhere.
