Zombieland Goes Full Circle, TV Show in Development

A series based on the film

Since a sequel to Zombieland is dragging its feet (apropos for something “undead”), there are now plans to develop a television show based on the film.

Writers Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick are working with the film’s producer Gavin Polone to make it happen. If the series flies, Polone told Vulture that it would remove the need for a sequel. (There’s also no coincidence that this news arrives on the heels of The Walking Dead season two’s big debut.)

Zombieland was originally planned as a television show before a feature film was given the green light (learn more about that in this interview).

Shortly after the original film’s release in 2009, 3D sequel talks immediately began. Reese and Wernick penned a script and cast members Woody Harrelson, Jesse Eisenberg, Emma Stone and Abigail Breslin were on board, however, Columbia Pictures never moved forward on the project.
