David Hayter to Explore The Devil’s Mile

Crime thriller with Lovecraftian elements

David Hayter (writer of X-Men, X2: X-Men United) is heading back in front of the camera to star in The Devil’s Mile.

Hayter previously played the titular character in Guyver 2 and also provided the voice of Solid Snake in the Metal Gear Solid games.

He’ll star in The Devil’s Mile for writer-director Joseph O’Brien (Robocop: Prime Directives). Maria Del Mar and newcomer Casey Hudecki will also appear in the film.

Blending “gritty crime thriller” elements with “Lovecraftian supernatural horror,” The Devil’s Mile follows a trio of kidnappers who take an ill-advised detour en route to deliver their hostages – two teenage girls – to their mysterious and powerful employer. When they accidentally kill one of the girls during a botched escape attempt, their simmering mistrust explodes into shocking violence. But what they thought was their worst case scenario is only the beginning, as they are engulfed by the hellish forces that haunt the road – a road they realize they may never escape. Now captors and captive must fight together to escape the monstrous forces pursuing them and somehow survive…The Devil’s Mile.

Hayter plays Toby McTeague, the psychotic enforcer for a mysterious and powerful crimelord.

Says O’Brien: “I was aware of David’s work as a screenwriter, obviously. And I’ve certainly spent my share of dusk-til-dawn gaming sessions playing Metal Gear Solid. But I also knew he began his career as an actor. We wanted to cast someone unconventional, a little unexpected, to play this frightening but charismatic madman. We reached out to David, and we were thrilled when he agreed to come on board.”

The Devil’s Mile is presently in pre-production.
