Zombies, gun-slingers and Filipino madness
Two bits of DVD news to share…
On July 26 from Inception Media Group comes The Dead and the Damned.
Hot on the trail of a renegade Apache warrior, gun-slinging bounty hunter Mortimer passes through an 1849 California gold rush town, where local miners direct him into the mountains to track his prey.
While he is gone, the miners unearth a meteor that has landed in their sleepy town. As they crack it open, an explosion releases toxic spores, which quickly infect the entire population, transforming them into blood-thirsty, mutant zombies.
Following a ferocious battle, Mortimer triumphantly returns to town with his Indian captive in shackles…only to find themselves surrounded by a ravenous horde of the undead. Now the two enemies must band together if they are to escape the horrors of The Dead and the Damned!
The Dead and the Damned is presented in widescreen with an aspect ratio of 16×9 (1.78:1) and 5.1 digital surround sound.
On that same day, also look for Machete Maidens Unleashed from Dark Sky Films.
Filmmaker Mark Hartley (Not Quite Hollywood) dives head-first into the hidden history of the American-backed Philippine production boom. Filled with outrageous footage from this lost era and firsthand accounts from Roger Corman, Joe Dante, John Landis, Jack Hill and a host of others who experienced the madness live and in person.
With their frequently insane plots involving midget James Bond clones, paper-mache monsters and, of course, imprisoned busty babes who work the sugar cane fields by day and take group showers by night, these humid hits fed the grindhouses of 42nd Street and elsewhere, as well as late-night cable TV. Also paying tribute to the films and no-holds-barred filmmakers in this rowdy, one-of-a-kind celebration are genre icons Sid Haig, Pam Grier, R. Lee Ermey and Dick Miller. Fans will have a field day spotting old favorites like Colleen Camp, Judith Brown, Leigh Christian and Andrea Cagan.
