Foreign gross gave fourth film a boost
Harvey Weinstein told MTV at Cannes that fans of Ghost Face and his bloody antics should not rule out a Scream 5 just yet.
“I’m sure [director Wes Craven is] going to do a sequel, I’m sure he’s going to do a sequel,” Weinstein said. He added that Scream 4 had a box office boost thanks to overseas audiences. “Foreign [sales] are so strong that we’ll do over $100 million worldwide. It’s at $90 now, with about five or six major countries to go and a lot of small ones. We’ll probably do $110 million.”
During press for the fourth film, Craven said he’s open to doing another film as long as it has a strong script. Kevin Williamson had a new trilogy mapped out. But would Williamson return to script a fifth film?
