Want to See WETA’s Test Work on Darkchylde?

Watch Ariel Chylde’s transformation

Two years have passed since Newsarama broke the scoop that Dark Horse and WETA (King Kong, Lord of the Rings) were toying with a Darkchylde feature film adaptation.

The comic, which first hit stands in ’96, focused on a blonde beauty who was able to metamorphose into nightmarish creatures, however, her power came with a catch. With each transformation, she’d unwittingly unleash a creature in her home town.

Over the last few years, it appears the film has been gestating slowly and, just in time for Comic-Con, the team behind the project has decided to release FX test footage which, unfortunately, isn’t embeddable but can be view via this link.

Says Darkchylde creator Randy Queen, “It’s a terrific, market proven concept, and as a fright fan, I want to see the new ideas. I want to see fresh characters that could become as vital to this generation as Freddy, Jason and Michael were to mine, and at this budget level, well crafted horror shows terrific return. We’ve got the script. Darkchylde is ready to fly. We are actively seeking producing partners and independent financing.”
