Both actors sign on for the Planet of the Apes prequel/sequel
John Lithgow and Freida Pinto have signed on for Rise of the Apes, says The Hollywood Reporter.
The sequel/prequel to Planet of the Apes sees James Franco as a scientist researching Alzheimer’s who, through his experiments, evolves an ape called Caesar to the point that he begins to lead his species to world domination. Hmm, wasn’t it Alzheimer’s research that led to the intelligent sharks of Deep Blue Sea? Quit the Alzheimer’s research, folks!
Lithgow will reportedly play Franco’s character’s father (who suffers from Alzheimer’s) while Pinto, the female lead, plays a primatologist who also works in the lab.
