Writer found for game adaptation
In May, it was reported that DreamWorks was courting Tim Burton to direct a big screen adaptation of the board game Monsterpocalypse.
Heat Vision now reports that John August is in negotiations with the studio to write the film’s script. He’s worked together with Burton on films such as Big Fish, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and Corpse Bride. The duo are also working on Dark Shadows and Frankenweenie.
The trade says that, while a deal hasn’t been made with Burton, talks are ongoing.
The project would be released through DreamWorks’ distribution deal with Disney via the Touchstone label.
“Monsterpocalypse” was created by Matt Wilson, who will co-produce the movie. To learn more about the game, visit the official site.
